Kingsley gets a makeover!

Welcome back to my blog! It's been almost two months since the last posting and several friends & family have been asking me what's new. Our nine weeks on the road were really terrific. We covered a lot of territory and met many old and new friends along the way. We left on Good Friday and returned home May 22nd(63 days on the road). Kingsley went 3054 miles/4886 Km. without mishap.
After all that time in close quarters we could see several improvements we could do to make the coach more comfortable in the future. We came up with a list:

1. Get rid of the orange shag carpet!! (31 years of dirt, food spills, dog hair, etc.)

2. Re-arrange the furniture to make the living area more spacious.

3. Find the leaks in the plumbing and repair. (really bad constant flow of clean water from an elbow joint behind the toilet).

4. Stain & refinish the kitchen cabinet doors (faded and scuffed over time and no longer matching the upper storage doors)

5. Replace rotten particle wood & paneling where needed.

6. Build in a new couch up front to replace the dinette/bed.
7. Insulate wherever possible

We started on the project about a month ago and we are nearly done! The shag is long gone, all the furniture is out, new carpetting installed in the cockpit, cork laminate 3/4 done, toilet out and back in and all leaks found and fixed, foil & bubble pak insulation and new panelling installed, furniture cleaned & some of the cabinet doors redone. Another week and we should be done. It has been a real learning curve but we are very pleased with the results.

Our next adventure will be a trip to Coeur d'Alene for a GMC Cascaders/Western States rally in September. We hope to extend the trip to 4 or 5 weeks on the road. I have been taking pictures as we have progressed with the reno and will be posting them too.

Meanwhile, we are enjoying a lovely Edmonton summer with long days and lush gardens. The raspberries in the side garden have ripened and should be good for the next three weeks or so. Life is good!
